Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Cambridge with deep Zephyr RTOS experience. You will architect and implement firmware for Zephyr while collaborating with hardware and systems teams, including prototype bring-up, board-level debugging, and interface development.

You will work on Embedded Linux on Yocto platforms, secure communications, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

Substantial commercial experience in low level embedded software and firmware.
Strong, demonstrable Zephyr RTOS experience.
Solid C and C++, with a knack for performance optimization on constrained hardware.
Confidence reading schematics and datasheets.
Proven board bring up and hardware-to-software integration experience.
Practical debugging chops with scopes and analysers and software tools.
Ability to clearly explain what you’ve done, both on paper and in person.

Responsibilities

Architect and develop embedded firmware on Zephyr RTOS, with some bare metal work.
Bring up prototype boards from first power with debugger and instruments.
Design and maintain interfaces: CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, RS422.
Build networked services and REST APIs, SNMP agents and OpenAPI specs.
Develop and debug TCP/UDP layers and optimize protocol performance.
Secure communications: authentication, encryption, secure firmware updates, hardening.
Work on Embedded Linux on Yocto-based platforms: services, daemons, drivers.
Lead root cause analysis and write clear requirements and specs.
Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to ensure solid data interfaces.
