Job summary

Filtronic in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our growing software team. You will design, develop and integrate embedded software and firmware for advanced RF and communications products across the full lifecycle.

The role focuses on Zephyr-based development with opportunities across embedded Linux, Yocto, bare-metal firmware, networking and secure communications. You will work with RF, FPGA, hardware and systems engineers on challenging solutions for telecoms and

Qualifications

Strong low-level embedded software and firmware experience.
Proficient in Zephyr development (required).
Experience with prototype board bring-up and hardware/software integration.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop and maintain embedded firmware using Zephyr and bare-metal environments.
Develop embedded Linux systems, including Yocto-based platforms.
Prototype board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
Design and maintain board-to-board interfaces (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, RS422).
Develop networking interfaces and services (REST, SNMP, OpenAPI).
Develop secure communications with firmware updates and system hardening.
Support security assessments and improvements.
Develop embedded Linux services, daemons and drivers.
Lead root-cause analysis of embedded networking/security issues.
Define software requirements and technical documentation.
Collaborate with hardware/FPGA teams on interfaces.
