Job summary

AECOM is recruiting a Principal Electrical Engineer for Overhead Lines (OHL) in London. You will lead technically challenging OHL design projects within the Transmission & Distribution team, engaging with clients and guiding on feasibility, design deliverables, and compliance with standards.

You will also mentor engineers, contribute to proposals, and support business development while delivering high-quality engineering solutions for HV infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g. IET).
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent in electrical/power engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead and engage with clients to deliver technically challenging OHL design projects.
• Write proposals with timelines, resources, budgets, objectives and goals.
• Provide technical support throughout project implementation and public consultations.
• Perform OHL design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis and loading trees, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor selection.
• Lead feasibility studies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Present technically preferred solutions to clients.
• Produce and check engineering deliverables and drawings.
• Mentor the team and support capability growth in cable systems engineering.
• Support business development activities such as proposals and client presentations.
