Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant to lead environmental contributions to transport infrastructure projects. You will shape planning, EIA, GRIP stages and DCO support, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and client engagements.

You’ll drive innovative environmental approaches, support bid development, and mentor junior colleagues while promoting health, safety, and inclusion across projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant environmental degree at quiz level or higher (EIA or similar).
• Practitioner or Chartered Environmental status and IEMA membership preferred.
• Familiarity with transport infrastructure consent processes (HRA, Environmental Permits).
• Ability to coordinate tasks across technical teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Experience leading meetings, bid work and project delivery with budget control.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental inputs into transport projects (planning applications, EIA, DCO support).
• Lead or contribute to multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality Environmental Statements.
• Support bid preparation and strategic bid responses; identify opportunities for work.
• Mentor and upskill junior colleagues; promote health, safety and inclusivity.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to develop strategies, resources, and delivery plans.
