Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant to contribute to nationally significant transport projects in the UK. You will lead environmental inputs across planning, EIA and DCO support, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

You will apply your experience in environmental design, assessment and management to deliver high-quality studies, environmental statements and strategic studies, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business

Qualifications

• A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar.
• Practitioner or Chartered Environmental Status and IEMA membership, or similar professional body.
• Familiarity with consenting processes for transport infrastructure and EIA integration.
• Ability to coordinate tasks across technical teams, external clients, stakeholders, and budgets.
• Ability to lead meetings with the technical team and external clients and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of HS2, TfL, Pathway, WebTAG, Network Rail or London Underground requirements.
• Experience coordinating environmental surveys for EIA on transport schemes.
• Experience in bid preparation and fee adjustments for transport projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of environmental inputs into transport projects including planning applications, EIA, and support for DCO examinations and/or planning inquiries.
• Deliver planning applications, EIA and environmental support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries.
• Recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management.
• Develop innovative techniques to shape our business such as Digital EIA or Future Ready EIA.
• Inspiring and upskilling junior colleagues to support their career development.
• Promoting an inclusive workplace and health, safety culture.
• Undertaking actions that contribute towards the success of the WSP business strategy.
