Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Senior Ecologist to join the UK Ecology Team on a nationwide basis. The role involves leading ecological inputs across major infrastructure projects, delivering high-quality surveys, assessments and monitoring programs both on desk and on site.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, and contribute to shaping environmental policy and biodiversity outcomes across the UK & Ireland.

Qualifications

• Background in terrestrial ecology with several years of relevant experience
• Full membership of a professional body or eligible for membership
• Experience leading ecological inputs on medium-large scale projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High level of personal responsibility
• Current and full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical insight, strategic thinking, and high-quality delivery.
• Lead on infrastructure projects (water, highway, rail, energy).
• Combine desk and site-based tasks.
• Lead ecological monitoring programmes and manage survey teams.
• Provide expert advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor others and engage with global communities of practice.
• Develop survey programmes and ensure high-quality data collection.
• Support career pathways in management or technical routes.
