Job summary

Jacobs in Belfast is seeking a driven Senior Ecologist to join our expanding Irish ecology team and lead major infrastructure projects across Europe, from coastal protection to energy schemes. The role blends field survey delivery with environmental assessment and habitat management, with opportunities to influence policy and practice.

You will mentor junior ecologists, collaborate across disciplines, build strong client relationships and help deliver Biodiversity Net Gain while balancing site

Qualifications

• A degree in ecology or related environmental discipline with extensive industry experience.
• Full membership of an appropriate professional body (or eligibility to achieve full membership).
• Experience running ecological inputs on medium-large scale projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail.
• High level of personal responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Deliver challenging infrastructure projects across highways, rail and energy.
• Apply habitat and protected species surveys, EIA, Appropriate Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Balance time between site and office commitments.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into design.
• Build relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders for future work.
• Mentor junior ecologists and share knowledge.
