Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Ecologist to join its UK Ecology Team across multiple locations including Cardiff. The role blends desk and site-based work delivering ecosystem assessments and biodiversity-led projects on major infrastructure.

You will contribute to EIA, Habitats Regulations Assessment, and Biodiversity Net Gain while mentoring colleagues and shaping ecological strategy. You’ll join a culture of collaboration with hybrid working options, ongoing professional development, and opportunities

Qualifications

• Background in terrestrial ecology with significant years relevant industry experience.
• Full membership of a professional body (or experience to obtain full membership).
• Experienced in running ecological inputs on medium-large scale projects.
• Outstanding written and verbal skills with good attention to detail.
• High level of personal responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Delivering challenging, diverse infrastructure projects including water, highway and rail schemes and energy infrastructure.
• A combination desk and site-based tasks.
• Using your experience in protected species survey, Ecological Clerk of Works, EIA, Habitats Regulations Assessment and/or Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Working in multidisciplinary teams to ensure terrestrial ecology requirements are recognised and constraints acted upon.
• Designing ecological monitoring programmes and leading survey teams with high-quality data collection.
