Job summary

Jacobs in the UK is seeking ecologists to join our ecology team, with opportunities across Edinburgh, Glasgow and other offices. You will work on challenging infrastructure projects, combining field surveys and desk assessments to support water, highway and rail schemes.

You will collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients and regulators, and contribute to environmental impact assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain efforts.

Qualifications

• Background in terrestrial ecology with relevant industry experience.
• Associate membership of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or equivalent.
• Experience as an ecology surveyor and field scientist.
• Ability to write clear, concise reports.
• Inquisitive with strong willingness to learn.
• Team player with good self-awareness.
• A hands-on work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ecology input on large infrastructure projects across the UK.
• Perform desk and field tasks with UK travel and occasional away-from-home stays.
• Apply expertise in protected species surveys, EIA, and Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams to integrate terrestrial ecology requirements.
• Engage with clients, regulators and external stakeholders.
