Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Ecologist to join its UK Ecology Team, delivering high‑quality ecological inputs on major infrastructure projects across the UK. The role combines desk work with site-based tasks and requires strong technical insight and a commitment to excellence.

You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams, mentoring others and shaping ecological monitoring and survey programmes, with opportunities for career progression along technical or management paths. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Background in terrestrial ecology with significant years of relevant industry experience.
• Full membership of a professional body (or experience to obtain full membership).
• Experience running ecological inputs on medium-large scale projects.
• Outstanding written and verbal skills with good attention to detail.
• High level of personal responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Delivering challenging, diverse infrastructure projects including water, highway and rail schemes.
• Desk and site-based ecological work.
• Lead on ecological inputs such as EIA, Habitats Regulations Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain.
