Job summary

A leading engineering compliance organization seeks an experienced EC&I Senior Engineer in Runcorn. In this role, you'll lead projects and deliver innovative compliance solutions while ensuring the highest safety and quality standards. Qualifications

  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards it preferred.
  • Previous experience with UK industrial sites.
  • Familiarity with DSEAR and ATEX standards is beneficial.

Job Title: EC&I Senior Engineer

Location: Runcorn, North West

Salary: Open to discussion based on experience

Contract / Permanent: Ideally Permanent, LTD 6 month contract may be considered

Hours: 38-40 hours per week Monday - Friday 9:30am-4:30pm (flexi working available)

Office based

Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview

If you are an experienced EC&I Senior Engineer looking to lead projects, influence best practice, and contribute to innovative compliance solutions, this role offers an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that values expertise and career progression. Our EC&I Senior Engineers play a key role in delivering compliance engineering activities, supporting site-based inspection and testing teams, and working closely with management to drive operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and engineering solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering and design activities, including:
    • Hazardous and non-hazardous area equipment specification
    • Intrinsically Safe (I.S) safety calculations (DSD)
    • Loop drawings, fault level studies, and calculations
    • Inspection and testing procedures and documentation
    • Report generation and critical reviews
    • Single line diagrams and electrical schedules
  • Deliver engineering solutions for upgrades and new works.
  • Build strong customer relationships and develop complete engineering proposals.
  • Support site-based teams with fault finding and resolution of EC&I issues.
  • Assist with operation and maintenance activities for customer sites.
  • Provide testing and commissioning support for new projects and installations.
  • Conduct functional testing of safety instrumented systems and alarms.
  • Travel to customer sites (short‑duration visits and occasional overnight stays).
  • Coordinate with other trades and onsite management teams.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum HNC in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards it (preferred).
  • Previous experience with UK industrial sites.
  • Familiarity with DSEAR and ATEX standards; CompEX 12 qualification desirable.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety Systems (BSEN 61508 & BSEN 61511).
  • BS#removed#th Edition trained.
