Job summary

Point of Rental is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the UK engineering team. You will own and modernize the engineering platform, build scalable AWS infrastructure, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment speed and reliability.

You will automate deployments, implement IaC, and work closely with software engineers to enhance developer experiences while supporting a legacy application migration to cloud-native AWS services. Strong collaboration across UK/US teams is essential.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
Strong hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services.
Proven experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
Experience automating infrastructure and deployments using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar).
Strong Linux administration experience with the ability to support Windows‑based development environments.
Experience improving release management and deployment automation.
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in cloud environments.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience partnering directly with software engineering teams.
A proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, recommend improvements, and take ownership of solutions.

Responsibilities

Own and continuously improve the engineering platform supporting our UK product.
Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure.
Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
Improve release management processes through automation, reducing deployment time and manual effort.
Partner closely with software engineers to improve developer workflows and delivery practices.
Support the modernization of legacy applications into cloud-native AWS services.
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
Monitor platform health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement long-term improvements.
Champion security, reliability, and operational best practices across the platform.
Collaborate with UK and US engineering teams to deliver resilient, scalable cloud solutions.
