Headquartered in London, the Brands have over 2 million customers worldwide through the ASOS platform, generating approximately £200m in sales. Following the formation of a joint venture between ASOS and HEARTLAND in October 2024, ASOS is establishing a standalone, cross-functional team dedicated to expanding the growth of TOPSHOP and TOPMAN. These brands will benefit from ASOS infrastructure and resources while maintaining the creative freedom and agility of standalone brands.

Over the next 12 months, TOPSHOP and TOPMAN will expand their offline and online retail presence, including the launch of Topshop.com and new wholesale partnerships.

Job Description

THE ROLE

The Senior Designer for Topshop Casual Outerwear & Bottoms plays a vital role in driving the success of these categories by delivering best-in-class products, trend building, and strategic planning. Collaborating with Design, Merchandising, Buying, Sourcing, and Technical teams, they are responsible for the casual outerwear and bottoms range, serving our wholesale business and global customers.

You will identify and drive product strategy for Casual Outerwear and Bottoms, working with the design team and retail teams to deliver a trend-led, commercially successful range.

The ideal candidate will be collaborative, organized, and strategic, ensuring trend direction aligns with the brand’s vision and appeals to our target customer.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Researching and developing standout ranges, including key seasonal shapes, focusing on fabric innovation, trends, and customer appeal.
  • Creating a cohesive and commercially thought-through range that reflects the brand strategy without gaps or overlaps.
  • Designing unique products across various customer profiles and end-uses, including volume pieces, seasonal key items, and press pieces.
  • Presenting trend research to internal teams and leadership.
  • Collaborating across departments such as Marketing to ensure alignment with the design vision.
  • Identifying and executing new product opportunities swiftly to lead market trends.
  • Contributing to business initiatives, influencing positive change.
  • Using sales data and customer insights to inform design decisions.
  • Sourcing innovative fabrics, techniques, and trimmings.
  • Working closely with Buying and Technical teams on product development, fit, and silhouette creation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and factories.
  • Managing and mentoring junior team members, providing clear guidance and feedback.
  • Supporting the Lead Designer and representing the team in various meetings and strategic discussions.
  • Collaborating with other functions to execute the Topshop strategy.
  • Driving lean, agile processes within the department.
  • Role modeling positive behaviors to motivate the wider team.

Qualifications

We’d love to meet someone who:

  • Has extensive experience in WW Casual design, including outerwear and bottoms.
  • Has designed leather and PU jackets, casual cottons, technical fabrics, shearling, borg coats, quilting, puffer categories, cargo trousers, printed twills, satins, and shorts.
  • Has experience working with manufacturers and sourcing in the Far East, India, and Europe.
  • Can deliver innovative, trend-setting, and commercially viable products.
  • Possesses strong trend research skills and a keen eye for print, embroidery, and embellishments.
  • Has a proven track record in fast-paced retail environments, influencing teams and leadership.
  • Understands the Topshop customer and market segmentation deeply.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates an inclusive leadership style and positive role modeling.
