Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead market modelling initiatives and deliver pricing analytics that improve competitiveness and profitability. The role involves end-to-end project ownership, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with Market Pricing, Retail Pricing and Underwriting teams.

The ideal candidate will have strong ML, Python, SQL and data science platform experience, with a focus on turning insights into actionable pricing strategies in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Proven track record of delivering commercial value using supervised machine learning.
• Advanced Python programming skills.
• Proficient in SQL and Git.
• Experience developing and implementing predictive models.
• Ability to drive projects from initiation to completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact strategic projects across Market Modelling from discovery to implementation.
• Provide specialist modelling support across Market Pricing teams.
• Develop and implement market models into live pricing.
• Collaborate with Market Pricing, Retail Pricing and Underwriting teams.
• Coach junior colleagues and contribute to team capability.
