Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Head of Technical Pricing to lead an experienced team of Data Scientists and Actuaries. You will set the pricing strategy, drive live pricing models, profitability models and feeder systems, and partner with Underwriting to improve risk prediction and fair customer outcomes.

You will build capability, promote innovation with responsible governance, and report to senior leadership while shaping the future of technical pricing in the business.

Qualifications

• Senior leader with experience in technical pricing, predictive modelling, actuarial science, or data science.
• Experience applying predictive models in commercial settings with strong statistics knowledge.
• Experience overseeing teams and using Python; familiarity with generative AI techniques.
• Ability to balance innovation with governance and model risk.

Responsibilities

• Set vision, strategy and roadmap for Technical Pricing aligned to underwriting and growth ambitions.
• Attract, develop, motivate and retain a high-performing team of Data Scientists and Actuaries.
• Lead design and delivery of robust models for live pricing, profitability assessment and the supporting technical pricing ecosystem.
• Partner with Underwriting and the wider business to improve risk prediction, reduce cross-subsidisation and support fair customer outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Claims and Account Management so operational change and portfolio insight are reflected in forward-looking models.
