Job summary

Harnham - Data and Analytics Recruitment seeks a Senior Data Scientist to join a specialist pricing team. You will develop pricing-focused ML models, explore new data sources, and shape customer risk assessment across a large-scale digital business.

The role offers technical challenges and visibility, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor juniors. London or Leicester with 1 day/week in the office.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience delivering ML and predictive modelling projects.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Knowledge of ML techniques such as XGBoost, CatBoost, or related models.
• Experience working in cloud-based environments, ideally Azure.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to translate business challenges into analytical solutions.
• Experience within insurance is valuable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy predictive ML models to improve pricing and customer selection.
• Explore new data sources to identify commercial opportunities.
• Develop geospatial and footprint models using alternative datasets.
• Create residual and claims-related models to improve business performance.
• Work with large, unstructured datasets and complex data environments.
• Own projects from problem definition through delivery.
• Mentor and support junior team members.
