Job summary

Hippo is a rapidly growing digital consultancy recruiting a Senior Data Engineer to join our Hippo Herd. You will work across data, design, product and engineering to deliver data platforms driving value for public and private sector clients.

You will lead data pipeline design, mentor engineers, and help shape cloud analytics solutions using Python, SQL, Snowflake and dbt. The role requires collaboration in an Agile environment with a proactive stance on quality via TDD/BDD and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Excellent experience delivering in Python and at least one other core language.
• Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases.
• Solid experience with Snowflake and dbt.
• Solid experience with Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Solid experience working with Snowflake and dbt.
• Strong experience building reliable and scalable Data Pipelines.
• Deep experience in an Agile environment.
• Proficiency in TDD or BDD.
• Strong experience with CI/CD.
• Experience mentoring and coaching others on technical best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of user-centred data software based on business requirements and best practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver innovative data solutions for complex client problems.
• Maintain and grow client relationships, troubleshooting complex issues.
• Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, resolving bottlenecks.
• Present prototypes, solutions, and progress to stakeholders clearly.
• Build strong relationships with team and stakeholders to overcome systemic challenges.
• Mentor and coach engineers to support professional development.
• Promote Hippo’s Data Herd through blogs, case studies and workshops.
