Job description

As a Senior Consultant - Business Analyst at UBDS, you will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic change and digital transformation across our client portfolio. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a strong foundation in business analysis, who can bring specialist expertise in either business change/transformation or data‑led project environments. You will work with cross‑functional teams, enabling our clients to realise measurable improvements by aligning technology solutions with business needs.

  • Lead the end‑to‑end analysis lifecycle for client engagements, from discovery through to implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Elicit, document and manage business and functional requirements through a range of methods including workshops, interviews, process mapping and analysis of existing systems.
  • Identify, validate and propose solutions to business problems, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and manage expectations across technical and non‑technical groups.
  • Produce high‑quality artefacts such as business cases, process flows, data models, and impact assessments.
  • Contribute to shaping change initiatives or data strategies by leveraging your domain expertise.
  • Support the definition of KPIs and success metrics, enabling data‑driven decision‑making and outcome tracking.
  • Assist with testing strategies, including user acceptance testing (UAT), by ensuring traceability of requirements.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to internal capability development within the UBDS group.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience working as a Business Analyst on complex digital or organisational transformation projects.
  • Demonstrable specialism in one of the following: Business Change / Transformation (experience with operating model design, process reengineering, organisational change, or service design) or Data Projects (experience in data strategy, data governance, business intelligence, data migration or analytics initiatives).
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate clearly at all levels of an organisation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Proficient in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum or other iterative delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, client‑facing environments and manage competing priorities.
  • BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent certification.
  • Agile BA qualification or similar Agile delivery framework accreditation.
  • Familiarity with GDS (Government Digital Service) framework and standards (for public sector engagements).
Experience:
  • Ideally 4+ years' experience as a Business Analyst, with a demonstrable track record of delivering high‑impact outcomes.
  • Prior consultancy experience and/or public sector experience is advantageous but not essential.
