Job summary

Safran Seats in the UK is seeking a Configuration Manager based in Cwmbran, Wales. You will lead the CMS, govern configurations, and own the engineering change process while aligning with group standards and regulatory requirements. The role demands CM principles mastery and PLM proficiency.

The ideal candidate will have aerospace/automotive experience, CMII Level 6, and CATIA V5/SmarTeam skills, contributing to robust configuration governance across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering, or HNC/HND (or equivalent) with significant experience in mechanical design.
• CMII Level 6 Certified.
• Proficient in CATIA V5, SmarTeam, and/or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Experience working within the Aerospace or Automotive industries, including knowledge of Digital Mock-Up (DMU) environments.
• Familiarity with Boeing and Airbus specifications and requirements.
• Strong understanding of engineering release, change control, and approval processes.
• Proven ability to apply configuration management principles within complex engineering and product development environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and maintain the CMS, ensuring control, traceability, and governance of configurations throughout their lifecycle.
• Own and optimise the engineering change control process and Change Control Boards (CCBs).
• Drive standardisation of configuration and engineering change practices aligned with group processes and best practices.
• Produce and maintain CMS data and reports to support lifecycle requirements.
• Assess changes in business and industry requirements and implement improvements to CMS processes.
• Partner with Change and Programme Management to embed configuration control in programme delivery.
• Support Windchill PLM deployment and optimisation to provide a robust foundation.
• Analyse CMS performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency and governance.
