Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Engineer for the Places Design Practice in the UK to lead civil engineering and urban development initiatives within buildings projects. The role covers surface and foul drainage, utilities, earthworks and highways interfaces, with collaboration across global teams and BIM integration.

You will provide technical ownership, manage design solutions, prepare design reports and drawings, and mentor junior engineers while supporting safe, sustainable project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified with Chartered or Incorporated status; those close to chartered considered.
• Experience in design and delivery of civil engineering/urban development in buildings projects including surface water, foul water drainage, highways and utilities.
• Proficiency with design standards (SuDS, SfA, DMRB, Building Regulations).

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering activities contributing to sustainable development and apply Arcadis Health and Safety Principles.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure integrity of overall design.
• Agree and implement project approach for collaboration with global design colleagues.
• Prepare and manage design solutions across project stages, including drawings/BIM models, reports and specifications.
• Attend project meetings and review team output for accuracy.
• Maintain Designer Hazard Logs and communicate residual risks to the Principal Designer.
• Coordinate project planning, tasks, people and resources.
• Provide technical ownership of Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers.
• As technical design lead, guide junior engineers, technicians and apprentices.
