Job summary

Arcadis seeks a Senior Engineer in the Places Design Practice to lead civil engineering and urban development activities for buildings projects in the UK. You will work across surface and foul drainage, utilities, earthworks, and highways interfaces, providing technical ownership and mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration with global design teams, BIM integration, and adherence to Arcadis Health and Safety Principles across project delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified with Chartered or Incorporated status (or near chartered status).
• Experience in design and delivery of civil engineering / urban development for buildings projects.
• Knowledge of SuDS, SfA, DMRB and Building Regulations.
• Experience in project management including planning, scheduling and client relations.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities contributing to sustainable development and apply safety principles.
• Collaborate with design disciplines to ensure integration of the overall design.
• Agree and implement project approach for collaboration with global design colleagues.
• Prepare and manage design solutions across project stages, including drawings/BIM models, reports and specs.
• Attend project meetings and review work for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain Designer Hazard Logs and communicate residual risks to the Principal Designer.
• Oversee project planning, team coordination and resource management.
• Provide technical ownership of Design Decision Logs and project assumptions registers.
• Offer technical guidance to team members and support professional development.
