Job summary

The Senior Civil Design Engineer will report to the Design Lead and be based in our Bury St Edmunds office as part of the UK Power Networks team. You will produce civil designs, manage costings and ensure CDM 2015 compliance while mentoring trainees.

The role offers a salary of £84,160 with a 3% bonus and blended working after six months: 3 days in the office and 2 remotely. Close date 09/11/2026.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree with Substation, Overhead Line and Cable experience.
• Civil/structural background in utilities and buildings.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD; Bentley software is a plus.
• Good safety culture and CDM 2015 awareness; IOSH training preferred.
• Ability to work unsupervised and deliver cost-effective designs.

Responsibilities

• Produce civil designs within defined scope for PMs, customers or leads.
• Oversee technical, commercial and contractual documents for procurement.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and relevant standards.
• Mentor Trainee/Graduate engineers to develop skills.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design with UKPN teams and external partners.
