Job summary

UK Power Networks (Operations) Ltd in the South East is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead civil and structural designs for substations, overhead lines and cable projects, ensuring safety, compliance and constructability.

Based in Crawley or Maidstone with hybrid work (3 days in office, 2 days remote). You’ll collaborate with project managers, electrical designers and CAD specialists, mentor engineers and contribute to design assurance across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree and experience in civil/structural engineering within the utilities sector (substations, overhead lines and cable infrastructure).
• Knowledge of CDM 2015, IOSH training; AutoCAD required; Bentley experience advantageous; Chartered status or progress toward it.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee civil and structural designs for substations, overhead lines and cable projects.
• Manage technical and procurement documentation; support design assurance activities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams; mentor Graduate and Trainee Engineers; fulfill Designer and Principal Designer responsibilities where required.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, operational teams and CAD specialists through the project lifecycle.
