Job summary

UK Power Networks is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer in the UK to lead civil and structural designs for substations, overhead lines and cable infrastructure. The role is hybrid after probation, with mentoring responsibilities and close collaboration with project teams.

Applicants should hold a Civil Engineering degree, have extensive utilities sector experience, and be proficient in AutoCAD; Chartered status and Bentley knowledge are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Civil and structural engineering design experience in the utilities sector.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and safety practices.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Bentley software knowledge is advantageous.
• Ability to coordinate with Project Managers and other design leads.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil/structural design for substations, overhead lines and cable infrastructure.
• Ensure design compliance with standards, safety, cost and programme.
• Produce construction‑ready drawings with CAD team and support procurement.
• Mentor Graduate and Trainee Engineers and drive design to project completion.
