Job summary

UK Power Networks is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join the Capital Programme & Procurement team in Crawley/Maidstone. You will produce civil and structural designs within defined scopes, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and industry standards.

The role blends office work with remote days after probation, offering a salary of £84,160 plus a 3% bonus, a business car, and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• Essential: Civil Engineering degree with substation, overhead line and cable experience.
• Essential: Civil/structural background in utilities sector.
• Essential: ability to resolve civil engineering issues and understand company policies and CDM 2015 application.
• Essential: knowledge of AutoCAD (Bentley software beneficial).
• Essential: safety culture and CDM 2015 Regulations including IOSH training.
• Essential: ability to work unsupervised and identify cost-saving solutions.
• Essential: experience in approving designs.

Responsibilities

• Produce Civil and Structural Designs that comply with standards and CDM 2015.
• Produce designs conforming to Codes of Practice and company/industry standards with Electrical engineering works.
• Oversee production of technical, commercial and contractual documents for procurement.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, CDM 2015 and company procedures.
• Mentor Trainee and Graduate Engineers to enhance experience.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design and act as Principal Designer as required.
• Collaborate with other UK Power Networks designers and external partners.
