Job summary

UK Power Networks is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer based at our Heathrow office. You will autonomously produce civil and structural designs for tendering, construction and handover, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Reporting to the Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will collaborate with electrical, structural, and CAD teams to deliver robust design solutions for airport infrastructure, while adhering to CDM regulations and

Qualifications

• MSc Civil Engineering degree level or equivalent.
• Civil engineering background with experience in building works ideally in Utility sector.
• Proven experience with reinforced concrete and structural steel in industrial buildings.
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in managing and communicating work packages for CAD teams.
• Experience using Autodesk Civil design tools (Robot, Revit, Vehicle Tracker).
• Experience signing off design packages for construction and as-built stages.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously produce civil and structural designs for tendering, construction, and handover packages.
• Ensure designs minimize hazards and risks wherever practicable.
• Ensure compliance with design governance, QA, and audits.
• Oversee preparation of technical, commercial, and contractual documentation for procurement of services and products.
• Assess suitability of third-party construction activities affecting network assets.
• Comply with CDM regulations and support Principal Designer role when required.
• Provide technical liaison with clients, suppliers, contractors and other collaborators.
• Produce designs in accordance with UK Power Networks Services and Heathrow standards and relevant codes.
• Mentor Trainee, Graduate and Design Engineers to improve proficiency.
