Job summary

Valarian Court Care Home, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Senior Care Assistant in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The role involves guiding a care team, overseeing medication, and delivering high-quality, person-centred care for residents.

The position is contracted to 48 hours per week with alternate weekends and a mix of day and night shifts. Applicants should have NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care at minimum; Level 3 is desirable or willingness to pursue Medication administration training

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum)
• NVQ Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards Medication administration training with competency
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach

Responsibilities

• Guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person-centred care
• Oversee medication administration and monitor residents' wellbeing
• Maintain accurate care records and ensure clear communication with families and healthcare professionals
• Ensure shifts run smoothly, are well organised and delivered to a high standard
• Respond to changes in residents' condition to maintain safe care

Job description

Based in Didcot, Oxfordshire, our newly-built care home offers exceptional standards of Nursing, Residential, Dementia and Respite care for 70-residents. Senior Care Assistant Contract £14.52 per hour Contracted to 48 hours per week Paid breaks Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract) Role Overview As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents. You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents' wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate. You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends as well as being able to work a mixture of day and night shifts.
