Job summary

Care Concern Group Limited's Silverleigh care home in Axminster is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead a shift and deliver high-quality, person-centred care. You will guide the team, ensure safe practices, and help organise daily care for residents.

You will oversee medication, monitor wellbeing, and maintain clear records while communicating with families and healthcare professionals. The role requires flexibility for weekends, and is contracted to 24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum); Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards.
• Medication administration training with competency is essential.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support the team to deliver safe, high quality, person-centred care.
• Take responsibility for the smooth running of the shift and ensure high standards of care.
• Oversee medication administration and monitor residents' wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate care records and ensure clear communication with families and healthcare professionals.
• Work alternate weekends as part of the rota.

Job description

Silverleigh is a beautiful care home, situated at the heart of a thriving community in a quiet street in the centre of Axminster, Devon. Silverleigh is registered for 65 residents.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• Contracted to 24 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
