Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Introducer Tech team, focused on the Lending API and partner integration in Germany. The role combines hands-on engineering with mentoring and shaping the technical direction, while collaborating with UK engineers to align API design on a Europe-wide scale.

The position is hybrid in London with remote options within the UK, offering ownership of critical systems and opportunities to impact how partners and brokers access iwoca's finance.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering: designed and built production backend systems in Python (Django, FastAPI or Flask).
• API design: built and evolved APIs used by other teams or companies.
• Ownership: scoped solutions from problem to production and iterated based on usage.
• Mentoring: helped engineers grow through code reviews and design sessions.
• AI leverage: built agentic workflows or used AI to scale engineering output.
• Communication: write and speak clearly, adapt detail to audience.

Responsibilities

• Own the Lending API in Germany end to end, deciding what to build and when to release.
• Own the developer portal and tools used by partners for integration.
• Ship features that help partners pre-qualify customers and simplify integration.
• Automate parts of the broker funnel and internal CRM to reduce friction.
• Set the team's technical direction and shape the product/tech roadmap.
• Mentor and coach teammates and collaborate with UK engineers on API alignment.
