Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Back End Engineer to join the Partner Flow team in London. You will design and build scalable backend systems, APIs and data flows used by thousands of partner integrations, from banks to fintechs, to power iwoca’s embedded lending experience.

You’ll own features end-to-end, collaborate with engineers and product, and use data to improve conversion and reliability. Remote within the UK with hybrid in-office days.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building scalable back-end systems.
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs that are easy to use and well-documented.
• Experience managing projects end to end, from problem to delivery.
• Pragmatism balancing fast delivery with long-term health.
• Clear written and verbal communication focused on outcomes.
• A genuine team player who supports colleagues and the team.
• AI fluency with using AI coding tools to accelerate real delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own features and projects from scoping and design through to production.
• Collaborate with other engineers to meet team goals and define solutions.
• Design and maintain robust, scalable backend systems for partner integrations.
• Improve conversion and reliability by running experiments and using data.
• Leave code, docs, and processes in better shape than you found them.
