iwoca is seeking a Tech Lead for the New Customers Team in London. You will oversee the engineering behind the customer application flow, checks, and lending offers, driving the move from monolith to services and owning the roadmap.

You will lead two engineers, collaborate with data science and product teams, and partner with credit risk. Strong backend, leadership, and AI experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Led a team of engineers for at least two years, including line management, while still hands-on.
• Deep backend engineering expertise in an OO language with production systems.
• Able to translate business goals into technical plans and explain trade-offs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Autonomy and ownership: shape what the team builds and set the engineering roadmap.
• Technical depth: design services turning models and rules into lending decisions and keep them production-ready.
• Experimentation and learning: build systems for live model testing and long-term results.
