Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Customer Operations Platform in London. Hybrid work with 1-2 days onsite per week, building and improving automated flows for operations teams, and applying ML/AI to enhance decision making and reliability of communications.

You will collaborate with Operations, Credit, and Collections teams, mentor juniors, and shape service boundaries as we migrate to smaller, deployable components while delivering high-impact customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and owning shared back end services that other teams depend on.
• Experience building and shaping distributed systems in complex business domains.
• Translate complex operational needs into technical architecture.
• Strong capability using AI tools to automate routine tasks and research.
• Use AI (Cursor, Claude Code or similar) daily to boost productivity and focus on hard parts.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex projects spanning multiple systems and stakeholders (CRM, telephony, task management).
• Translate business context into actionable technical work and roadmap items.
• Prototype scoping to validate feasibility before roadmapping.
