Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Backend Engineer for the Partner Flow team in a hybrid role based in London, with remote options within the UK. You will work on the Lending API and embedded flows that enable third-party platforms to offer iwoca loans within their customer journeys.

You will own features end-to-end, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, and contribute to scalable backend systems while leveraging AI tooling to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and building scalable back-end systems, ideally in Python.
• Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, with performance considerations.
• Experience building and maintaining APIs that are easy to use, reliable and well-documented.
• Experience managing projects end to end from problem understanding to solution delivery.
• Pragmatism in balancing delivery speed with long-term health of systems.
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication, focusing on outcomes and impact.
• Genuine team player who shares knowledge and supports teammates.
• AI fluency with tools to accelerate delivery and prudent use of AI.

Responsibilities

• Own features and projects from scoping and design through to production.
• Collaborate with other engineers to meet team goals and work independently on your part of the problem.
• Design and maintain robust, scalable systems for fast-paced development.
• Deliver new functionality critical to onboarding partners and improving funnel.
• Run experiments (RCTs) and use data to refine strategies and decisions.
