Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Backend Engineer for the Repeats team in London. This hybrid role involves shaping the repeat-loan offer pipeline, deciding eligibility, pricing, and borrow limits, and owning backend features end-to-end from design through production monitoring.

You will work across backend and frontend tasks, collaborating with product, design, and data analytics to drive impact on iwoca's back-book and customer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Clear, testable Python code.
• 1+ years of commercial engineering experience.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with frontend (React/TypeScript) over time.
• Strong written and spoken communication.
• Experience writing automated tests and safe releases.

Responsibilities

• Own backend features end-to-end, from design to shipping and monitoring in production.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science and Analytics to build technical and customer-friendly solutions.
• Ship frontend work in Pandora (React, TypeScript) to enable end-to-end ownership over time.
• Maintain and support core services behind repeat lending, including the lending_decision app and pricing/offer-amount services.
