Job summary

Wise is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II in Cash Management. You will design, build, and operate backend services in Java/Spring Boot within a microservices setup. You’ll work with product managers and partner banks to enable international payments and liquidity management.

You’ll lead technical decisions, improve observability and testing, and mentor engineers while solving complex problems end-to-end in production.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka.
• Ability to own projects end-to-end and collaborate with product managers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable services in Java and Spring Boot within a microservices architecture.
• Lead development efforts in event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Architect, design, and optimise relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support partner integrations and expand the Wise payment platform globally.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best coding practices.
