Janus Henderson Investors is undergoing a firm-wide AI transformation and seeks a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer to lead the most senior engineering function embedded with business units. You will set technical bar, own deliverables, and guide the team from hands-on code to strategic direction.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in technical, business-facing engineering roles, incl. senior engineer responsibilities.
• Experience leading engineers as line manager or tech lead, with accountability for delivery.
• Strong Python and SQL, and a track record of shipping production applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own the team’s deliverables and outputs.
• Line-manage Forward Deployed Engineers; hiring, onboarding, objectives, development, performance.
• Allocate people and effort across the demand pipeline; set expectations with stakeholders.
• Maintain engineering bar through design and code reviews; grow engineers’ ownership.
• Report progress, risk and capacity to Head of AI Technology and stakeholders.
• Design, build, and productionise high-complexity AI solutions; own architecture decisions.
