Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment is seeking a Senior AI-Assisted Software Engineer to deliver robust software from design through release. You will apply AI-assisted tooling to speed delivery while upholding security and quality.

You will mentor junior engineers, enforce best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with enterprise architecture and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience in a regulated/secure sector (defence, government, etc.).
• Cutting-edge AI/ML knowledge.
• Cloud & architecture certifications (Azure/AWS) or related training.
• Project management or Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, PRINCE2 Agile).

Responsibilities

• Deliver robust software solutions from design through release.
• Use AI-assisted tools to speed delivery while maintaining quality.
• Enforce coding, testing and documentation best practices with automated checks.
• Ensure security, scalability and alignment with architecture standards.
• Mentor junior developers and promote AI-enabled workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate into the AI ecosystem.
