Job summary

AWE is seeking a Senior AI-Assisted Software Engineer to own the development of secure, high-quality software using AI-enabled methods. You will join the AI Capability Development team to translate requirements into robust applications and accelerate coding with AI tools.

Located onsite between Reading and Basingstoke, you will mentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams while upholding safety and Responsible AI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience in software engineering, typically 3-5+ years.
• Track record of using modern development practices and tools.
• Strong software development skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver robust software solutions from design through release using AI-assisted tools.
• Ensure security, scalability, and alignment with architecture and compliance standards.
• Pilot and integrate new AI-assisted tools and methodologies to boost productivity.
• Mentor junior developers in code craftsmanship and AI-assisted development.
• Collaborate with AI Adoption teams, data engineers and IT to ensure smooth deployment and integration.
