Job summary

Atomic Weapons Establishment is seeking a Senior AI‑Assisted Software Engineer to own the delivery of secure, high‑quality software using AI-enabled development techniques. You will work within the AI Capability Development team translating requirements into robust applications and mentoring junior developers.

Based mainly onsite between Reading and Basingstoke, you’ll collaborate with AI Platform Specialists to accelerate coding, maintain governance, and ensure compliance with safety and data

Qualifications

3–5+ years of software engineering experience.
Proven experience with modern development practices and tools.
Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts and adoption in software delivery.
Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS) are a plus.
Experience in regulated or secure sectors is desirable.

Responsibilities

Deliver robust software solutions from design to release using AI-assisted tooling.
Ensure security, scalability, and compliance with architecture standards.
