Job summary

The Citation Group is seeking an AI Architect to own the AI/Data architecture for the delivery area, reporting to the Chief AI Officer. You will formalise practice, govern AI design, and align patterns across teams with a focus on security, cost, and scalable AI systems.

Based in Norwich, this senior role drives architectural decisions, evaluates open-weight vs. closed models, and champions production-ready AI solutions with measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Senior level with 6+ years in software, data, or platform engineering/architecture.
• Hands-on experience with production AI systems beyond pilots.
• Ability to influence across teams without direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Establish patterns and standards for AI systems across the organisation.
• Own design patterns for retrieval, grounding, and tool-calling conventions.
• Maintain an evidence-based framework for model selection across providers and open-weight options.
• Manage token cost, observability, and cost-per-outcome tracking.
• Involve Security early in initiatives and govern AI design decisions.
• Oversee design reviews and proposals from third-party delivery partners.
