Job summary

The Citation Group is seeking an AI Architect to lead the architectural ownership of AI/data systems, ensuring consistent patterns, governance, and secure, cost-aware design across delivery teams.

The role requires hands-on experience with production AI and broad influence across product, engineering, and security functions to align initiatives with the five-layer AI platform standards. This is a senior, strategic engineering role in the UK.

Qualifications

• Senior candidate with 6+ years in software, data, or platform architecture.
• Hands-on experience with production AI systems, not just pilots.
• Ability to influence across Product, Engineering, Security and Infrastructure.
• Proven ability to define architectural standards and governance.
• Experience with model selection between open-weight and closed models.

Responsibilities

• Own AI patterns, grounding, agent orchestration, prompts, and guardrails.
• Maintain architecture decisions and ARB alignment.
• Assess third-party Statements of Work architecturally before commitments.
• Ensure token spend and cost-per-outcome are observable and explainable.
• Involve Security from project start and ensure compliance.
• Define PoCs and validate vendor claims in design discussions.
• Oversee production quality, observability, and incident response.
• Coordinate with delivery partners to enforce standards.
