Job summary

Rotherwood Education are recruiting for 2 SEND Teaching Assistants to work full-time in a secondary school in the Burnley area, starting ASAP for an initial period through to October half term with potential extension. The ideal candidate will have strong SEND experience, be capable of one-to-one and small-group support, maintain calm behaviour management, and complete safeguarding checks and DBS.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEND TA.

• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Provide last 2 references covering the last 5 years of work history.
• Have a current DBS or be willing to apply for one.
• Willing to complete safeguarding checks in person.

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for 2 dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work on a full-time basis in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.

These are long-term positions starting ASAP, initially running through to October half term, with the potential to extend beyond this date for the right candidates.

The successful candidates will have strong previous experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a secondary school setting. You will work closely with key pupils, providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to help them access learning, overcome barriers and develop greater confidence and independence.

The role will involve supporting pupils within lessons, adapting activities and communication to meet individual needs, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement, and helping pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally. You will work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO and wider school staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and appropriate support.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND and who are confident managing challenging situations in a calm, patient and consistent manner. The ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils and adapt your approach to suit individual needs is essential.

Ideal candidate will:

• Have strong previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant, preferably within a secondary school
• Have experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
• Be confident providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Be patient, calm, resilient and consistent
• Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Provide details of the last 2 references covering the last 5 years' work history
• Possess a current DBS or be willing to apply for one
• Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and required safeguarding checks

Position Details

• Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

• Duration: Initially until October half term, with potential to extend
• Pay: £90-£100 per day, depending on experience
