Job summary

Empowering Learning in Havering is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in a welcoming school environment. You will work 1:1 and in small groups to help learners access lessons and reach their potential.

The role focuses on assisting teachers with differentiated lessons, promoting positive behaviour, and building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families. DBS enhanced is required or willing to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Passionate about supporting children to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups to access learning.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.

Empowering Learning is recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Havering. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic, patient, and committed to helping pupils reach their full potential.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and communication difficulties.
  • Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups to help students access learning.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Support students with personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, care, youth work or similar).
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
