Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant for a permanent post at a specialist SEND school in the new academic year. You will work with pupils with a range of complex needs to enable access to learning and promote growth.

The ideal candidate has SEND experience, patience, strong communication and a proactive, collaborative approach to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in education, care or support settings.
  • Knowledge of ASC, ADHD, physical disabilities and PMLD is desirable.
  • Patient, empathetic and proactive approach with strong teamwork.
  • Good communication and commitment to safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with severe and complex needs, including ASC, ADHD, physical disabilities and PMLD.
  • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and safeguarding.
  • Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver learning plans.
  • Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school on a permanent basis, starting in the new academic year. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of complex and severe learning needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Support students with severe and complex needs, including:
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Physical disabilities
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity, respect, and safeguarding are maintained at all times
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to deliver personalised learning and care plans
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in an education, care, or support setting
  • Knowledge or experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and/or PMLD
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with personal care requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
