Job summary

Empowering Learning is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a Havering-based SEND school. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday during term time, with a September start and a 8:30am-3:30pm schedule.

The ideal candidate will support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and communication needs, working 1:1 and in small groups to access learning.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs on 1:1 and small group settings.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

The Role
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and communication difficulties.
  • Work on a 1:1 basis and with small groups to help students access learning.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Support students with personal care where required.
