Job summary

SEND Inclusion Support is seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with diverse learning needs across primary and secondary schools. You will help learners access learning, build confidence and reach their potential in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Role involves collaboration with staff and external professionals, supporting personal care where needed, and contributing to safeguarding and wellbeing in daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEND in educational, care, or community settings is advantageous.
  • A patient, caring and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience and a positive attitude.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to reach their potential.
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies or assistive technologies is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND, including learning, behavioural, social, emotional, and physical needs.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence.
  • Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required, including hygiene, dressing, eating and mobility.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, carers and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.
  • Supervise and support learning activities when required.

Role Overview

Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals, you will provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
