Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to work across Retford and the DN22 area with a range of partner schools.

You will support pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 or small-group basis, building trusting relationships and contributing to a calm, inclusive learning environment. Experience with SEND and a patient, resilient approach are valued. Competitive PAYE rates and flexible short- and long-term placements are on offer.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people
• SEND experience and confidence supporting pupils with additional needs
• Patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to remain calm and consistent when challenges arise

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND
• Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
• Help pupils engage with classroom learning and activities
• Adapt support to meet individual learning needs
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour
• Support pupils with emotional and social development
• Work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and support staff
• Help create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
• Follow individual support plans and school procedures
• Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil well-being
