Job summary

SEND Inclusion Support is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across welcoming primary and secondary schools in the Leigh area. You will support pupils with diverse learning needs to access learning and participate in lessons.

Join a nurturing, inclusive team with safeguarding responsibilities and ongoing professional development. Previous SEND experience is desirable, but a patient, caring approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEND in educational, care, or community settings would be advantageous.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies, interventions, or assistive technologies is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of SEND, including learning, behavioural, social, emotional, and physical needs.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence.
  • Assist with classroom management and contribute to a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required, including hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times.
  • Supervise and support learning activities when required.

Role Overview

Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals, you will provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
