Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a Waltham Forest school in East London. Start ASAP for an ongoing, long-term role supporting pupils with SEND, providing 1:1 and small-group help within a welcoming setting.

You will collaborate with class teachers and the SEND team to deliver tailored support, promote learning, and foster confidence and inclusion in the classroom.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • Patient, compassionate and confident in supporting individual needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Experience with Autism/ADHD/SEMH or complex learning needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with learning, development and engagement in lessons.
  • Help manage behaviour and promote positive relationships.
  • Support pupils' communication, social and emotional development.
  • Implement individual learning and support strategies.
  • Work with teachers and the SENCO to ensure appropriate support.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills.
  • Support a positive, inclusive and safe classroom environment.
