Aspire People is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a long-term role in Waltham Forest, East London. Start ASAP and ongoing contract.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND, helping their learning and engagement in lessons. Experience with SEND is desirable; you should be patient, calm, and a strong communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils and work closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure effective support.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • Patience, compassion and confidence in supporting individual needs.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communicator who works well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development and engagement in lessons
  • Helping to manage behaviour and promote positive relationships
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social and emotional development
  • Implementing individual learning and support strategies
  • Working alongside teachers and the SENCO to ensure pupils receive appropriate support
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and key life skills
  • Supporting a positive, inclusive and safe classroom environment
